Meet Our Coaches

Mick Cauthron

Mick started playing tennis competitively at age 15 in Tyler, Texas, where he grew up.  In high school, he placed second in the state tournament and went on to play professionally in USTA tournaments.  He received an associates degree in professional tennis management and has been coaching all ages and levels for the past 10 years in Austin, Texas.  Mick recently relocated to Western Kentucky and is excited to be working with PTA.  To contact Mick for private lessons, email mickcauthron3@gmail.com or call 512-618-9575.

Wes Long

Wes has played tennis since he was 8 years old. Growing up playing at the Paducah Country Club and taking lessons from many local professionals, he and his brother took on a love of the sport with much support from his amazing mother and father. After moving to Naples, Florida, in 2001, Wes was coached by Ido Abougzir during middle and high school where he would play against IMG, Evert Academy and Saddlebrook tennis players in his school’s district. He had the privilege of playing daily with internationally ranked players and numerous Hall of Fame legends during those years. Wes has coached and instructed many players of all ages and abilities in Florida, Minnesota and Kentucky and won the Educational Merit Ward from the USTA Kentucky in 2015. He continues to lead and instruct many of PTA’s clinics and events and has an unrivaled passion for the game. Wes can be contacted for private lessons at 239-370-5606.

Sarah House

Sarah began playing tennis at the age of 6 and took private and group lessons every summer at the club her family belonged to.  She did not take up tennis seriously until she was in college at the University of Toledo where she played two years as a walk-on.  After college graduation, she joined USTA and began playing leagues and soon was ranked a 4.5. In 1999, she began teaching through the parks department in Ohio and at private clubs for 7 year and became certified through PTR – Professional Tennis Registry.   After taking a break to care for aging parents,she moved to Illinois in 2009 and continued to play competitively and taught private lessons to adults and kids.  After retiring with her husband to Paducah in 2020, she was introduced to the Paducah tennis community and has been teaching Tennis Apprentice during the spring and fall each year along with Cardio Tennis. Ted Kopren

After graduating from Winona State University playing the #1 position on his college tennis team, Ted went on to graduate from Vic Braden’s Tennis Academy.  His career has taken him to Germany and across the US where he has enjoyed a long and prestigious career as a tennis professional coaching at a variety of tennis clubs. He recently relocated to the Paducah area with his wife and enjoys helping a new generation of tennis players achieve their potential and grow the game.  Ted is availabel for private lessons and can be contacted at 763-587-5752.
